Guidelines

These guidelines should be considered before pressing “Submit Story”:

  • Is the story about a customer being a complete and total idiot? Doing something that shouldn’t be done in public? Makes you and others around you wonder how the customer is able to walk? Is it something unusual? Is it funny? Does it make you weep for the future of human kind?
  • Is the story original and NOT from TV shows, movies, books, magazines, periodicals, etc.? The story should not have been previously posted to another website, unless only on your personal blog. If we determine that the story is copied from another site, or Idiot Customers, it will be deleted without notice.
  • If other employees are present, are their actions lawful, and their conduct proper for the business?

If you can say yes to each point above, there is a good chance that your story will make it onto the site!

We recommend that you avoid using terms that may associate your story (e.g., company jargon, job title, etc., that you’ve only heard at your place of employment,) or yourself (real name,) with a company that you are currently or previously have worked for. You never know who else may be reading this site!

Even if a submission meets all the guidelines, it still may not make it onto the site.

Story Tracking

If you’d like visitors to Idiot Customers to find all of the Stories you have submitted, you must provide a name or nickname. Due to the complexity of tracking authors, a “tag” will be added to the story that matches what you enter in the “Name or Nickname” field of the form. Since people often have the same name, there may be cases where more than one person’s stories end up under the same name (for example: if two different people submit a story with “John” for their name, the tag “John” would be associated with both stories, even though they were written by two different people). We recommend that you use an online nickname, rather than your first name, to avoid this. The “tag” will appear randomly amongst all tags associated with any given story, and will not be marked as being the author. Lastly, if no name/nickname is provided, no author tag will be added.

All stories will be screened and added by a staff member of Idiot Customers.

Idiot Customers fully believes in our First Amendment rights. Thus, we rarely edit stories, so you may come across “politically incorrect” words, terms, phrases, etc.. Please see Privacy Policy, Terms of Service.
